Congratulation to all of them! Max, Roger, Will, Claire, Olivia, Katie, Florence, Sophie, Andy, Ryan, Joshua, etc. (not in order)
One week-long tournament just ended after 9 rounds of fights. Lots of photos popped up on the WeChat moments. Several of them were my students. Because years have gone by, I won't call them students any more. The best word I can use is former students. Anyway, I am happy for them to grow up. As a base-level coach, I want to see my students grow up and become strong players.
Congratulation to all of them! Max, Roger, Will, Claire, Olivia, Katie, Florence, Sophie, Andy, Ryan, Joshua, etc. (not in order)

On Saturday, I suddenly got the idea to build my Youtube. I had about 190 subscribers at that time. Thanks to support of parents, we reached 300+ over the weekend. It's still far from my target 1000 subscribers, but a nice start. So now I have to beef it up with contents.
One basic content can be "tactics". This is my strength. So I will discuss difficult tactic problems, sharing some puzzle rush results, and maybe also sharing some puzzle solving sessions. Another one is "study with me". Studying master games, such as ones by Magnus Carlsen, is my routine training. I will make it more formal and more regular. We will start with Carlsen's games. Maybe also Karpov, Kasparov, Nepo, Dubov, Fabiano, etc. We will see how far we could go. First we start with Carlsen. Third topic might be "current event". If I see any exciting games, I will share with you guys. I am still transferring my 5334 course. It will take a while. I will comment on PCA tournament games once in a while too. Let's wish for the best for the new 2021-2022 school year. I am trying to build up my Youtube Channel for chess. Basically it is a channel for beginners to intermediate players, i.e. USCF 0-1500+. I will need your help to get more subscribers. My first goal is 1000 subscribers. You can help with one-click subscibing which takes 3 seconds. If you have friends who are interested in chess or who want to learn chess, please help forward my channel to them. That will be even more helpful to all of us.

Basically I tried to solve one problem per page every week on the spot. I have the week by week progress on this blog site. Now I am trying to move the whole course to Youtube so more people can access it.
Here is the Youtube list: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF6enq3h4vUxpK3GJRXfjb6RJ3EZeEVVG Please feel free to use it. Hopefully it can be helpful to you. If you like it, please subscribe to my channel. I am planning to add more contents to the channel. I have discussed the importance of in-person tournaments, so I won't repeat.
Checking the USCF TLA site: https://new.uschess.org/upcoming-tournaments, I found it's too cumbersome to search state by state. Because my students are all over the country, searching this way will not allow me to help them much. So I tried to re-organize the list with the help of simple programming. Here is the result. If you read English: http://www.chessstepsonlinelessons.com/tournaments.html If you read Chinese: https://www.plqx.us/t.html To limit the size of the list, the list covers next two weeks. I will refresh it every week. Hopefully this could help you start searching for in-person tournaments. |
