When a child begins to learn chess, especially when he/she starts to play in scholastic tournaments, parents are getting busy to find all kinds of resources, sometimes they are much busier than the child. :-) There are lots of questions in their mind, some they get answers from talking to other parents and coaches and from searching online, some may be never answered due to all kinds of reasons. One reason I know is: not everyone wants to share candidly. Some parents consider this is also a competition among parents. Some coaches would like keep business secrets. We are kind of talking about war, not just battles on chess board. If you don't understand this psychological reasoning, please read the famous book: "Searching for Bobby Fischer".
When I began to coach young kids officially last year, I got all kinds of questions during classes, on WeChat, in emails, and at tournaments. There are lots of wrong messages or answers circling around, of course wrong just in my opinion. This motivated me to create a new blog for chess parents, especially those new to the chess world. I will do my best to share my experience and lessons candidly.
