Your child needs some goals in order to achieve something. Other than rating targets, s/he should consider the following:
- become school or club champion
- become state champion
- become national champion (or top 5)
- qualify for World Youth (2015 qualification rules)
- be invited to play in Barber, Denker, or NGIT (representing your state)
- qualify for All-America Chess Team
- be invited to play in Cadar (under 16), Junior Closed, and Girls Junior Closed
- play in World Junior Championship (representing US)
